Our Soccer Shin Guards
All sports require specific equipment to protect players from injury. A swift kick to the shins can send a person to their knees, and in a sport like soccer the chances of being kicked tend to be extremely high. Soccer shin guards are designed to reduce the impact of the multiple inevitable kicks that a player is sure to receive. However, not all shin guards are equal. At ePortableSoccerGoals.com we offer three types of soccer shin guards in two sizes each. They come in different levels of protection for different prices to accommodate each of our clients budgets. Our highest quality shin guards, which offer the highest level of protection, are the Ultralight brand sets. They are designed with added protection that goes around the ankles of the player to prevent ankle injury as well as shin injury. Each of our sets of soccer shin guards come in a size which is meant to fit youth players, and another size for our adult customers. Professional - and often college and high school teams - require that the shin guards be covered by socks which match the team colors. Generally on rec teams, any color and type of sock may be used to wear over the shin guards.
Protective Soccer Gloves
Soccer gloves are designed for the protection of the goal keeper. Goal keepers are required to have swift reflexes to be able to swat the ball out of midair. It is the duty of the goal keeper to keep the soccer ball out of the goal by any means possible. While each of the other players on a soccer team can use every part of their body except their hands, a goal keeper’s hands can often be their strongest defense. It is important that their hands are protected as much as possible to prevent any type of avoidable injury. At ePortableSoccerGoals.com you will find high quality soccer gloves in three sizes, from small to large. They have been made with grips on the fingers and palms to prevent the ball from slipping away. This provides an optimal amount of control for the goal keeper. For added control, our gloves are kept light and fitted with no added bulk, which could potentially get in the way.
The Origins of Protective Soccer Gear
The idea of using this type of protection dates all the way back to ancient days. During those times, certain types of shin guards were used in armor to protect warriors. They were originally made from bronze and other hard materials. This idea did not begin to be used in sports until the nineteenth century. The very first sport to adopt this idea was cricket. It was not until later that this form of protection began to be used in soccer. Shin guards are now an essential piece of equipment for soccer players across the globe. While there are some sports in which players are given the opportunity to opt out of using this sort of protection, soccer players are required to wear soccer shin guards any time they are on the field.
In 1885, soccer ball manufacturers got a patent for a specific type of glove, which would later be used by goal keepers worldwide. Before the 1970s, many goalies used gardening gloves, if they chose to wear soccer gloves at all, to protect their hands. As people began to become aware of these patented gloves which provided protection and grip, the demand for soccer gloves quickly became extremely high. In the 1980s, soccer gloves finally became an absolutely fundamental piece of soccer equipment.
Standards For Safety
The National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) is an organization which has been put together to regulate standard safety guidelines for all sports. The committee is made up of trainers and coaches, manufacturers, medical professionals, and people from many other areas of expertise. While they specialize in protection from head and neck injuries caused by lacrosse and football, they have developed a very specific set of rules that all soccer shin guards are to follow. Every piece of equipment is to undergo a standard set of tests to ensure durability before it is allowed to appear on the market.
Stock Up on Soccer Shin Guards
All of the equipment sold on our website is meant to be used by teams and individuals alike. It is important to be prepared for anything when it comes to your passions, so all of our soccer shin guards and soccer gloves are priced so that our clients may more easily purchase them in bulk. Shin guards should not continue to be used if broken or cracked, and this can happen in the middle of a practice or game. Many of our clients like to have a second pair on hand to use in cases like this. It is the responsibility of a coach to ensure that the team is prepared for anything. As a coach, you may want to have several sets on hand so that your team is ready to face any challenge which may appear.
